How to open face photographs or LiDAR Mesh Scans in Surpac?

    Intro

    Besides georeferenced rock face photographs, Rock Mapper allows to generateĀ 3D photorealistic textured meshesĀ using the iPad Pro's built-in LiDAR sensor and camera array. Both, the georeferenced rock face photograph and LiDAR scan are stored as 3 separate files (OBJ + MTL + JPG, see detailsĀ here) which can be directly imported into Surpac (version 6.8 or higher).


    ā„¹ļøĀ Rock Mapper generates a number of textured mesh files which are automatically included in the Rock Mapper ZIP file. SeeĀ hereĀ for more information.


    1. ImportĀ 

    In Surpac, either drag-and-drop the OBJ file into the viewer or choose File > Import > Wavefront OBJ to DTM file.Ā  Please make sure that the OBJ, MTL and JPG file are all stored in the same folder before importing so that the texture file (JPG) is correctly mapped onto the mesh file (OBJ).Ā Ā
