New Liquid Glass design
Rock Mapper now follows Apple's latest iOS/iPadOS 26 design language.
-
Digital Geological Compass
Use your iPad to capture orientation measurements of planes and lineaments (e.g., faults, lithological contacts, intersection lineations, fold axis, etc.).
-
Pan and Zoom for rock face photographs
You can now zoom into face photos, and pan to the left wall, right wall as well roof / backs. Double tap to maximise the view.
-
Sample Bag ID Scanner
Instead of manually entering IDs printed onto sample bags, simply scan them using the iPad's camera.
-
Pictures and Attributes for POIs
Assign a picture and customisable attributes to POIs. Great for (geotechnical) inspections or to capture that small geological details (like a speck of visible gold). You can even annotate POI pictures. All POI pictures and attributes are included in the Mapping Report PDF.
-
Edit Annotations, Report Fields & Attributes
Annotation layers, report fields and attributes can now be edited or duplicated in the Settings. Simply long-press to open the contextual menu.
-
Other improvements & changes
- Improved/smart label placement and sizing on photographs and LiDAR scans.
- Auto-detect structure type when placing structural measurements on annotation lines (e.g., on a fault line).
- Copy / paste for sample interval data.
- New, simplified user interface for Structural Measurements / Orientations to streamline input. Structure type (Plane or Lineament) now directly defined in Settings > Mapping > Structures. All Contacts are automatically classified as type Plane.
- ❗New column SiteID added to [FaceID]_metadata.csv file.
- New green globe icon on thumbnails to indicate fully georeferenced rock faces.
- Device storage warning when device is running low on it.
- Zero delay face photo scaling and sampling grid generation after adding scale bar. Previously it could take a few seconds for complex / jagged face outlines.
- Orientation value check. If entered structural measurements are outside of valid range (e.g., dip = 124), then value is highlighted in red and can't be saved.
- Improved input for laser station and survey point coordinates. Pressing the return button on the virtual keyboard automatically moves cursor to next field.
- New show / hide POI comments. Previously POI comments were always visible, now they can be hidden on the photograph and 3D LiDAR scan.
- Mapping and Sampling report PDF preview and quick-share option. Long press thumbnail on rock face gallery page to open contextual menu and then choose PDF Report.
- What's New window to inform users about the most important new features and changes after updating.
- ❗New [FaceID]_history.csv file. Records events CREATE, UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD, EXPORT, IMPORT, SAVE, DUPLICATE, RENAME, GEOREFERENCE as well as DATETIME, RMVERSION, RMID and SITEID for each rock face.
- ❗New [FaceID]_POIs.csv file. Saves all info regarding POI pictures (PICTURE_NAME, VIEW_ORIENTATION, X, Y, Z) as well as all user defined POI attributes.
❗Indicates new files or files where format / structure has changed
IMPORTANT. Before updating to version 3.5, please follow these steps:
