Rock Mapper 3.1

Rock Mapper now supports direct Mapping/Drawing onto LiDAR Scans and Local Export of Rock Face ZIP files. 

• Mapping/Drawing onto LiDAR Scans
  Turn your LiDAR scan into a canvas. You can now directly map/draw onto 3D LiDAR scans (LiDAR textured meshes AND LiDAR point clouds). Plus we have incorporated a smart way to render the mesh so that you always see inside the 3D model without having to clip or crop the mesh. 
  
• DXF Support
  Annotations on face photographs as well as 3D LiDAR scans can now be exported in DXF format to further improve compatibility with third party software packages. 
• Local Export
  Rock Face ZIP files can now be locally exported to the Files app and from there copied to your own server (see details here) or stored on a USB-C memory stick. Simply long press the thumbnail on the Rock Face Gallery Page and choose Export to ZIP. This means that all data transfer is handled locally. The app only connects to the Rock Mapper Cloud to check if your subscription is active.
•  Local Mode
  The app can now be set to Local Mode which means that all new rock faces are exported to the Files app instead of being uploaded to the Rock Mapper Cloud. The Upload / Download buttons on the Rock Face Gallery Page then change to Export / Import buttons. Please note that the app still connects to the Rock Mapper Cloud to check the validity of your subscription before starting a local export. 
• Other Improvements 
  - Improved handling of 'lost tracking' for LiDAR scanning
  - Improved memory management when processing large LiDAR textured mesh scans
  - Apple Pencil input improvements
  - New FACE_HEADING_TYPE column in [FaceID]_metadata.csv file (value compass or manual)
  - Sampling Report PDF formatting improvements
  - New DELETE button (bin icon) in Structural Measurements popover
  - Import picture window is now opening in full screen (to make finding the right image a breeze)
  
  

Before updating to version 3.1, please follow these steps:

1. Upload any unsaved rock faces from your iPad to the Rock Mapper Cloud and then back up all your data (save the original ZIP files).
2. Make sure that you are running the latest version of iPadOS (17.2). Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check.
3. Make sure to perform step 1 and 2 on all your devices.
