Major release with brand-new LiDAR Mesh Capture Tool and Augmented Reality Visualisation (AR).

LiDAR Mesh Capture
Capture UG Rock Faces and Walls as photorealistic 3D models (Digital Twin) and save them as textured meshes (OBJ+MTL+JPG) which are fully compatible with industry-standard 3D modelling software packages. Compared to LiDAR point clouds, the LiDAR derived textured meshes have a much higher geological fidelity and at the same time produce smaller file sizes. Because of the improved file sizes, Rock Mapper now allows to cover much larger areas in a single scan.
Augmented Reality (AR)
Capture a digital twin of a rock face with the new LiDAR Mesh Capture tool and then revisit the rock face back in the office using our new Augmented Reality feature without the need of any additional hardware or VR/AR goggles. Great option to discuss the geology of a rock face with other team members from the convenience of your office. A real time saver as you won't need to head back UG again.
Multi-Select Pick Lists for Report Fields
Mapping Report Fields, Sampling Report Fields and Q Report Fields can now be configured as Multi-Select Pick Lists. Previously the only available field types were Text Field and (Single-Select) Pick List.
Descriptions for Pick List Values
When using pick lists (multi-select or single-select) for Report Fields, then besides the pick list value itself you can now also add a description. For example, for a sampling report field named Face Grade you can now set up a list of values with associated descriptions.

Enforce Author Input
For every new Rock Face it's now mandatory to pick or enter an Author. This makes sure that every mapped Rock Face has a person assigned to it. Previously only Level, Region and Face Number were required when a new Rock Face was created.
Other Improvements & Adjustments
- File name for LiDAR point clouds changed from [FaceID]_pointcloud.csv to [FaceID]_lidar_pointcloud.csv to be consistent with new [FaceID]_lidar_mesh.obj file naming
- Q Report values now saved in [FaceID]_report_fields.csv file
- New Save Changes and Exit buttons instead of Cancel and Save buttons on Mapping and Sampling Pages. Allows to save changes without having to close and open the currently worked on Rock Face.
- LiDAR point cloud UI / workflow adjusted to match new LiDAR textured mesh UI / workflow
- Sampling Domain export adjustments. Now grid cell midpoint coordinates instead of grid cell cornerpoint coordinates are saved in the [FaceID]_domains.csv file
- Touch area around Structural Measurements increased to make selecting & editing them easier
- Face Number stepper buttons (+ | -) added to FaceID window on Rock Face Gallery Page, Mapping Page & Sampling Page
- New icons for Face Heading, Eraser, Pick Reference Point and Transparency
- Increased size of Point Sample Attribute window
- New Sludge Hole option for Point Sample Sets
- Tapping Reference Point Cross Hairs / Scale Bar on Face Photograph will open Reference Point / Scale Bar windows for editing
- Improved handling of incomplete uploads to eliminate the generation of potentially invalid Rock Face ZIP files

Before updating to version 3.0, please follow these steps:

Upload any unsaved rock faces from your iPad to the Rock Mapper Cloud and then back up all your data (save the original ZIP files).
Make sure that you are running the latest version of iPadOS (17). Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check.
Make sure to perform step 1 and 2 on all your devices.
