Step 8: Download Rock Face

Intro

Rock Mapper allows to download existing rock faces from the Rock Mapper Cloud where they are stored as individualĀ ZIP files. This feature helps to streamline collaboration within a team of geologist by allowing them to share data amongst them. For example, underground geologist Steph maps a face in the morning and uploads it to the cloud. In the afternoon geologist David downloads this rock face and can then add sampling data to it.

Workflow

To download a rock face, tap theĀ DownloadĀ button in the upper left corner on theĀ Rock Face Gallery page.

You will then see a list of all available rock faces on the server. Rock faces that have already been downloaded to the device are indicated with a tick mark symbol, all others will have a Download button.

ā„¹ļøĀ Please note that download speeds may vary depending on the quality of your internet / WiFi connection.

If you want to find a specific rock face on the server, then simply enter it's name / ID in theĀ Search Field.

ā„¹ļøĀ A rock face can only be downloaded if it was kept in its original ZIP file format. If you have manually edited the ZIP file later (e.g., renaming it) or unzipped it on the server, then you won’t be able to download it to the device because the app performs an integrity check and doesn’t accept any rock face ZIP files that have been altered with outside of Rock Mapper.
