Setting up Mapping Layers

Intro

AllĀ Mapping LayersĀ can be freely configured in theĀ Settings. Tap theĀ cog wheel iconĀ in the lower TabBar on theĀ Rock Face Gallery PageĀ to get to theĀ Settings.Ā Four main types of annotation layers are available on theĀ Mapping Page.Ā

šŸ‘‰Ā Contacts

Shown as solid lines (e.g., quartz lode hangingwall). All contact annotation layer names and colours are automatically inherited by theĀ Structural MeasurementĀ tool so that you can assign aĀ structural measurement to a contact.Ā

šŸ‘‰Ā Structures

Shown as dashed lines (e.g., fault). All structure annotation layer names and colours are automatically inherited by theĀ Structural MeasurementĀ tool.

šŸ‘‰Ā POI (Points of Interest)

Shown as points with optional info text (e.g., visible gold)

šŸ‘‰Ā Scribbles

Free drawings / sketches shown as thin solid lines (e.g., arrows to indicate sense of movement along fault)

ā„¹ļøĀ 3D coordinates of points / lines that describe Contacts, Structures, POIs and Scribbles are saved to the [FaceID]_mapping.csv OR dxf file for any georeferenced face photograph. These data can be directly used to update a 3D geological model (e.g., in Leapfrog Geo).Ā

Instructions

Add New Mapping Annotation Layer

To add a new annotation layer, first pick a mapping category in the menu on the left (Contacts, Structures, POIs or Scribbles) and then press theĀ +Ā button in the list. Enter a name for this layer and then pick a colour. Please note that the name cannot be changed at a later stage, but you can change the colour anytime.Ā

ā„¹ļøĀ When using multiple iPads then every device should be configured the same way to allow for seamless data exchange (e.g., download of rock faces generated by other users). That's why you should use the same configuration file on all devices.

Delete Mapping Layer

To delete an annotation layer, swipe with your finger over it from right to left. You'll then see a delete button appear. Press it and the layer will be deleted.

Reorder Mapping Layers

To reorder layers, long press the item that you would like to move and then drag it to the desired position. Please note that this will also reorder the position of the Mapping Layer on the Mapping Page.
