Magnetic Declination
The magnetic compass in the iPad is used to measure the orientation (view direction) of the UG rock face while taking the face photograph. This value is known as face heading. In order to account for the difference between Magnetic North and True North, a Magnetic Declination value needs to be entered so the app can correct for it. In order to find the Magnetic Declination value for your location (which can be negative your positive), please visit this website.
Mine Grid Rotation
For mines that use a mine grid that is rotated in regard to True North. The measured face heading in Rock Mapper will then be reported according to the Mine Grid.
Export Format
Choose the desired export format depending on the requirements of your downstream software packages. When it comes to Mapping Annotations, Leapfrog users might prefer CSV files. For any GIS work, we recommend to use the DXF format.
Units
Default units used by Rock Mapper are metric (meters). Enable Imperial to switch to feet. Please note that existing rock face data won't be converted to imperial or metric units if this setting is changed.
Apple Pencil
Enable and double-tapping the Apple Pencil (2nd gen) OR Apple Pencil Pro will undo the last annotation on the Mapping Page. Note that there is also a undo button on the Mapping Page which performs the same task.
