Rock Mapper 2.6

Release Date: 25 May 2023

New Reference Data Management. Now you can input Laser Station and Reference Point coordinates directly in the app.

Additionally, the app now distinguishes between Laser Stations (X, Y, Z, AZI, PLUNGE) and Points (X, Y, Z) for georeferencing. Plus we simplified the naming: Projects are now called Rock Faces

  • New Laser Stations Page and Points Page
A new TabBar at the bottom of the main screen allows you to get to the Rock Face Gallery Page, Laser Stations Page, Points Page and Settings. On the new Laser Stations and Points Pages you can now add and edit Laser Stations and Reference Points as well as download them from the Rock Mapper Cloud (via a CSV file).
When updating reference points or laser stations all connected Rock Faces are automatically re-georeferenced based on the newly available information.
  • Georeferncing User Interface Improvements
The input interface has been adjusted to work with the new Reference Data Management System. It even supports on-the-fly generation of Laser Stations & Points on the Mapping Page.
  • Project Upload / Download Improvements
Now the ZIP file sizes and create dates are shown in the Download window. It will quickly give you an idea if a Rock Face ZIP file includes a LiDAR point cloud or not (because LiDAR projects result in larger file sizes). Additionally, the app now indicates the number of Rock Faces that will be uploaded.
  • Sample QAQC Simplifications
IDs for Blanks and Standards were initially added by downloading the Sample_QAQC.csv file. Now these ID's are directly entered in Settings > Sampling > Sample QAQC or on-the-fly after adding QAQC data on the Sampling Page which simplifies and speeds up the process.
  • Automatic Naming of Rock Faces (Auto FaceID)
When generating a new Rock Face, a name is automatically chosen based on the most recent project that's stored on the device (e.g., 100_Everest_F1 will auto-increment to 100_Everest_F2). Because this was automatically done in the background, users often forgot to check & change the name when they were working in a different area of the mine. To avoid this from happening, users will now set the name of a project BEFORE it's created. Moreover, the automatic naming feature (Automatic FaceID) can now be turned off by the user.
  • Number Format & CSV Export Format
Depending on the chosen Region and system number format in the iOS settings, the app will now automatically use comma OR point as decimal separator and point OR comma as thousand separator (e.g., 1,234.56 vs 1.234,56). Additionally, users can now pick from a list of CSV delimiters:  comma (default), semi-colon, tab, pipe OR space.
  • Umlaut Support
Users can now use Umlaut (ä, ü, ö) and other characters such as ß in names / regions / levels.
  • New App Icon
It was time for something fresh :)
