In order to achieve best image & scan quality in dark environments such as underground mines and tunnels, we recommend to use a high power, rugged & splash-proof/waterproof LED light. By using adequate lighting, high quality photographs can be captured even with the relatively small camera that's built into the iPad Pro. We recommend following lights:
Stationary lights (place on ground) for Face Photography / Face MappingĀ
- Bosch GLI 18V-2200 C | IP64 |Ā 2,200 LumenĀ (bright)
- Scangrip Nova 4k C + R | IP67 |Ā 4,000 LumenĀ (brighter)
- Scangrip Nova 6k C + R | IP67 |Ā 6,000 LumenĀ (brightest)
Mobile lights (attached to iPad Pro) forĀ 3D LiDAR Scanning
- iPad mounted, waterproof Dual LED light array |Ā 3,000 LumenĀ (part of theĀ Rock Mapper Hardware Kit)
- Any other powerful LED light that can be directly mounted to the iPad Pro (e.g., using aĀ RAMĀ® mount) such as the Acebeam X80-GT 2Ā
ā¹ļøĀ Proper illumination is highly beneficial from a geological mapping point of view too. There is simply more to see on a well lit underground development face compared to using only a headlamp which is why we recommend to use additional LED lighting.
